Ela Ganguli is a female farmer from Khulna, Bangladesh who is part of a group of farmers involved in co-developing climate information services in WaterApps project. Water and climate information helps Mrs. Ganguli and her fellow farmers to anticipate changes in the weather and plan their agriculture activities accordingly. For example, when the farmers know that there will be a rainstorm they can take the drying rice inside or plant their seedlings later in the week. Without this knowledge a harvest can be spoiled in an instance and freshly planted seedlings can be washed away. Additionally, the forecast information can be used to decide whether and when to hire labour, buy and use fertilizer and make many other crucial socio-economic decisions.
