Interpretation rainfall probability map for Ghana for the January - March 2021 season:

  • The seasonal outlook for January – March shows an expected average rainfall for most of Ghana, a chance of higher than average rainfall in most northern part Ghana and lower than average in the most south-eastern part of the country.
  • The seasonal forecast shows a 40% chance of higher than average rainfall in Upper-West and Upper-East provinces (green).
  • The seasonal forecast shows a 40% chance of lower than average rainfall in Western and Central provinces (yellow).
  • The Forecast shows an expected average rainfall in the rest of the country (white)
  • This forecast is different from last month’s forecast in which a large part of the country had a chance of higher than average rainfall.
  • In line with the expected rainfall in Ghana, the regions north of Ghana have a chance of higher than average rainfall and the coastal areas east of Ghana are expected to have lower than average rainfall.

The dry season has started in areas indicated in red.
